2023 6'8 Tyler Smith New Star of the Lone Star State

Tyler Smith stands 6’8 out of Texas, and will be running with Team Griffin on the NIKE Circuit when play resumes. Smith is a big and powerful combo-forward in the mold of former MSU Star Miles Bridges. He is explosive with very good body control, can make plays off the bounce, and is also a very underrated passer.

He is a beast in transition where his big body, combined with his top level athleticism, makes him incredibly tough to stop. He can also utilize his length and bounce in a half-court set, the ability to beat defenders off the dribble and finish around the basket. He has a good natural touch as a shooter, goes diligently to the glass on both ends, and has plenty of winning intangibles that have many considering him as the top player in Texas in the class of 2023.

Smith has a frame that oozes potential and one that scouts loves – he has extremely long arms and he is extremely bouncy. He can fill the lane and finish with authority or drain a 3-point shot. His shot is smooth and easy (gets great lift on his shot), once this becomes a consistent part of his game be will become extremely difficult to stop.
