Patterson rebounded, put the ball on the floor, defended multiple
positions, should a phenomenal change of pace and change of direction along
with lateral movement – he was explosive and showed scary athleticism. He was an excellent scorer and did it in a
variety of ways at every level effectively; he showed the propensity to get to
the free-throw line always the sign a pure scorer and not just a shooter.
At a true 6’7 and growing Patterson possesses an excellent mid-range
game and can get to the rim against anyone and shoot or finish over anyone. He
also has all the athleticism to be an elite guy and is an unselfishly good
passer. A true star in the making and frankly it may be a foregone conclusion
for Patterson to matriculate into the #1 spot in the class. There is no one who is close at it pertains
to the total package and combination of size and skill. There is a premium on this and a model that
scouts look for at the next level; the bottom-line is that many of Patterson’s
boxes are checked. Having named the last
for ESPN #1 players when introduced as freshman/sophomores we take this position
and title seriously – Patterson has grown and developed into potentially the nation’s
best player in class and has done it by meeting very specific developmental
milestones.
Documentation beats conversation and this past weekend
Patterson produced stat-lines that included a 30-point, 16 – rebound, 2- assist
effort against a tough Havoc Team and highlighted his weekend against the
current #2 ranked player Ryan Conway putting up 25-points, 12-rebounds, 4-assit, 2-blocks, and
a steal leading his team to a win – this head-to-head match-up was the statement
Patterson has been looking to make for the past 24-months and he did it in impressive
fashion averaging 20ppg and 11 rebounds over the weekend and 15ppg and 9
rebounds on the season – and he is literally getting better each time he steps
onto the court!
