Johnathan Kabongo brother of former McDonalds All-American
and Texas Point Guard Myck Kobongo is a shooter with a smooth stroke and great
size. Kabongo at the same stage is a
more polished prospect then his brother, which is saying a lot. Johnathan is an established big guard who
strokes threes with range but also handles efficiently, can make plays with the
ball in his hands and makes good decisions with the ball. Johnathan is becoming
a prototypical combo guard with skills to operate in both backcourt positions
making him one of the most versatile players in the 2018 class. Very athletic,
he is wiry and stronger than he appears. He constantly beats defenders off the
bounce and has an excellent mid-range game. He can get to the basket on the
break and in the half court set where he finishes above the rim already. Playing for the CIA Bounce AAU Program
Kobongo will be pitted against the top competition nationally even though he
resides in Canada and we expect him to hold his own. Prolific Performance believe Jonathan’s
future will be at the second scoring guard position with the ability to take on
ball handling responsibility. Continued
progression at the current rate within this class likely will result in a
McDonald’s appearance and a D1 scholarship – just like big bro.
