Mike Saunders Jr. receives first college offer |
The class of 2020 is preparing to
enroll in high schools across the country; in the world of recruitment
especially in the early stages of high school attention is typically given the
bigs and dynamic wings in any class. Early
offers have come in and have been verified and documented but those to this
point have been for players 6’6 or taller.
Mike Saunders Jr. out of
Indianapolis, IN to date in the last 72-hours has become the exception to that “rule”.
Playing for one of the most well coached teams, and national power at the 2020
level the G3 All-Stars who are associated with the NBAs Goerge Hill; Saunders has
been a winner on every level.
His success can be attributed to a tremendous
skillset that has been on display at multiple spots this spring and early
summer – most recently he has put on shows at the Under Armour Next Combine as
well as the Cross Roads Elite Camp held by ESPN Hoop Guru Paul Biancarti. He is extremely experienced both on and off
the ball and has a killer instinct, will to win, and the poise to succeed in
any situation; frankly speaking Mike Saunders Jr. may have the highest IQ not
for just the PG position but maybe for the entire class of 2020.
Evaluating his progress he is just
as comfortable working off ball-screens in pick and roll situations as he is in
a traditional motion system where is adept as post feeds, mid-range shooting,
and extending the defense with his prowess from behind the stripe. He put pressure on the defense when putting
it on the deck and has hit a growth spurt recently that has propelled his stock
through the stratosphere. We like him just as much as a drive and kick player as
we do in isolation or two man game situations.
When the pill is in this guards hand something good always seems to
happen.
There is no situation that he fears
and his progression to work as an old school floor general and a new millennium
scoring lead has caught the eyes already of D1 schools and coaches even with
his just readying to leave the 8th grade.
Our sources have confirmed that one institution
has gone beyond interest - IUPUI has formally offered class of 2020 Mike
Saunders Jr. his first of many to come offers.
They too even at this juncture see the tremendous upside and value of a
player of Saunders caliber. This is
surely just the beginning for what will be one of the tops PGs in the 2020
class for years to come.
