Tysheem Pickett, PG - PSA Cardinals 2020 |
Tysheem Pickett comes at you full speed out of the Boogie
Down Bronx – the shifty/rangy point guard lit up the Basketball Spotlight Tip Off Classic this weekend and he has done similar work all season long. Pickett who has improved all aspects of his
game continues to impress each time we have had the opportunity to see him. Pickett
is one of a few of a last of a dying breed – a pass first PG who pushes the
ball well in the open court, has terrific vision, and his passing is next level
special in the open court as well as in half court sets. The straw that stirs the PSA Cardinal (formerly
Team Scan) drink; Pickett is an outstanding athlete who affects the game with
his length, assertiveness, and IQ.
One of the few PG’s who can dramatically impact a game
without scoring a single point – Pickett has learned the secret of making the players
around him better at a young age. He is
able to take the talents of the others on the court and make them exponentially
better simply by playing alongside him.
The Cardinals who have appeared in several championship games in the
early part of the season; again made big noise in the recent Basketball
Spotlight Tip Off making it to the Final Four prior to a tough 1 point loss to
a tough NJ team 38-37 – the last possession was Pickett at his best as he set
up and blew past his man getting into the teeth of the defense where he was
fouled but didn’t get the call causing the Cardinal to come up a little short
in their quest for a rematch with eventual champions Slam City Elite; another
team who has had trouble controlling and containing the solid NYC lead guard.
A solid defender who is aggressive on the ball, plays the
passing lane, and speaks the game as well as he plays it - Tysheem can guard
the position he is a two way 94 foot player whose motor seems to run on premium
fuel. The scary part is that Pickett could be a
prolific scorer if he wanted to with the tools he has to work with and he can
and will get his team a bucket when he needs to with an array of creative finishing
moves. You remove Pickett from the
Cardinals and they will cease to fly he is that much of a difference maker and
that good of a player. If you respect
the game and love the purity of the point guard position you must respect Tysheem
Pickett a new star in the 2020 class that you certainly will be hearing a lot more
from!
